How to allow users to mount Truecrypt volumes without root privileges

The other day a friend of mine asked me if I could do something about it – to allow regular users to mount Truecrypt volumes without making them sudoers.

Sure it can be done – here it is:

1) login as root

2) modify /etc/sudoers, this should be actually done via special command:

visudo

3) add this line to the sudoers file:

username ALL=(root) NOPASSWD:/usr/bin/truecrypt

where username is the username which needs to use the Truecrypt

4) That’s it! Profit 😉

Kudos to the Judsonnotes.com for providing the how-to, thanks!
